Verena Gellner, MD

verenaVerena Gellner is consultant at the department of Neurosurgery, Medical University Hospital Graz, Austria. She is a senior board member of the competence unit for skull base surgery, initiated by Heinz Stammberger and Michael Mokry. She graduated from the Medical University of Graz with less than minimum duration of study and completed her degree with distinction. She started her neurosurgical practice 14 years ago, performing both, microsurgical and endoscopic skull base surgery.

She is board certified specialist for neurosurgery and neurosurgical intensive care medicine. Her clinical practice includes the full operative treatment of all types of brain tumors, skull base lesions and pathologies of the spine. Dr. Gellner´s research deals mainly with endoscopic management of skull base lesions, including biochemical and cytological basic research in cooperation with the Center for Medical Research, ZMF and Comprehensive Cancer Center, Medical University Graz.

She was faculty board member of the European position paper on endoscopic management of tumors of the nose, paranasal sinuses and skull base (Rhinology 2010), general secretary neurosurgery organizing the 5th World Congress for Endoscopic Surgery of the Brain, Skull Base & Spine (Vienna 2012) and  general secretary  of the German skull base society congress (Vienna 2014).

Beside her dedication to her work  Dr. Gellner is married and mother of two children, aged 4 and 10 years.
